I posted on freecycle.org that I needed some chicken fencing and was offered a bunch of used chicken wire in differing lengths and widths. We had a four foot tall section that we wrapped around the bottom of the dome and secured with twist ties at the base. Wire was then used to connect the top of the fencing to the dome. Of course, we left a section open to attach a door later. This was done on February 27, 2012.
With a three foot wide section of chicken wire, we enclosed more of the dome. The two sections of fencing were connected by twisting the ends together. The top of the fencing was then wrapped around the poles of the dome. This was done in March of 2012. The fencing has held up beautifully and hasn't come apart for over three years, even though we've moved the dome many times since.
The awning from our tent was attached to the top to provide some shade. We thought it was too small, so it was removed. We would later replace it with a bigger tarp and now don't even use any shade. The coop we built provides some shade, and the chickens are usually allowed out to free range during the day.
